Chiloé's Emerald Isles- (4 days/ 3 nights): In Comfort
A comfortable experience of the natural and cultural beauty of Chiloé
"We have had the trip of a lifetime in Chile, especially our 4 days on Chiloe. We loved the peace and quiet of the whole place and the privilege of staying with Chilote families, not to mention the penguins and sea lions. Our whole trip has been faultlessly organized, thanks so much!!!!"

Day 1: Across the water to Chiloé
This tour begins with a private transfer from the airport or your hotel in Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas. A two hour journey (including a 30 minute ferry ride) will take us to the emerald island of Chiloé Grande. We will follow the winding coastal road into Ancud making a stop at a charming coastal village, famous not just for its plentiful birdlife including flamingos and black necked swans, but also the finest oysters on the island. The rest of the day will be spent in the picturesque fishing town of Ancud , an area steeped in history where the Spanish made their last stand in all of the Americas, when its colonies were liberated. After a visit to the museum and the small Spanish fort, we'll check into a beautiful, wood-beamed 3* hotel overlooking the bay.
Day 2:- Ancud and Pacific Penguins
After breakfast, you and your guide will head into the Chilote countryside towards the rugged Pacific coast of the island. An area of deserted beaches, quiet farmlands and coastal forests, the rarely visited West coast is a hidden jewel of natural beauty and wildlife. Our destination will be the unique penguin colony of Puńihuíl, the only place in the world where Humbolt and Magallanic penguins nest side by side. We will tour the small island colonies by boat, a trip that often encounters many other types of marine life. After a gourmet picnic lunch of smoked salmon, we will spend the afternoon exploring the rugged beauty of the hidden beaches and countryside of the West coast. The area is great for nature photography and taking walks along one of the pristine beaches lining the coast. Activities from hiking to site-seeing to be determined by your interests. In the evening, we will return to Ancud and the same wood-beamed 3* hotel.
Day 3:- East coast Chiloé
After a continental breakfast at the Hotel, you and your guide will drive south on the paved highway to visit the provincial capital of Castro. Famous for its stunning wooden cathedral (one of 14 UNESCO world heritage sites), crafts market, and palafitos (wooden houses on stilts), the city is also the bustling economic center of the island. Afterwards, we'll continue up the coast and enter the verdant countryside and rolling hills of Chiloé's east coast. This is where traditional culture thrives, with oxen pulling carts laden with firewood, milk jugs awaiting pickup every morning and afternoon and where life revolves around the rhythm of country life. Small fishing villages communities nestled along the coast in protected bays, surrounded by orchards and pastures create an ambiance of peace and tranquility. The day will be spent visiting several of the colorful fishing villages that line the coast and witnessing the age old traditions of the local Chilotes. From a traditional shipyard, a true living museum of Chilote craft to a wonderful wood-shingled UNESCO church, you will an enjoy a culture that has remained unchanged for centuries.
