Bird Watching in
Patagonia: Charter Only
For the active birder, this trip offers excitement,
culture and birdlife not found anywhere else in the
world. Accompanied by a professional bilingual guide and
an ornithologist, it combines several days on the big
island of Chiloe where the elusive forest dwelling Chucao
and Black Woodpecker live. Wetlands excursions will focus
on the Chilean Flamingo and the lovely Black-necked Swan,
among others. One day will be spent visiting the small
island preserve Puóuel, home to both Magallanic and
Humbolt penguins. Then, you and your guides will meet the
Cahuella for the trip over to
the wild fjord region of Continental Patagonia. This is
the home of the Torrent Duck, Andean Condor, Ringed Kingfisher and many types of
cormorants. We will spend the days in the isolated
fjords, traveling by zodiac to quiet beaches and
estuaries. The birdlife is accompanied by an exciting
array of mammals as well, including sea lions, orcas,
dolphins and more. And remember, although you might be in
a wild part of the world to see exotic birdlife, the
