Itinerary

 Day
1- Bay of Ancud-
This tour begins at 9:00 AM at our office in Ancud (1 block from the
Cruz del Sur bus terminal) to make the most of the (normally) calm
mornings. We'll drive 7 kms out of town to the beach area of Lechagua
to gear up our Dagger sea kayaks. The day will be planned
according to your activity level as well as by the weather. Following a
safety talk, we?ll explore quiet estuaries of the bay full of birdlife
and other sea life as well as sea cliffs; a unique view of Chiloe from
the water that is had by few! We?ll enjoy a picnic lunch on the shore
at midday at Fort Ahui if conditions permit. This Spanish fort was
built over 230 years ago and was the last Spanish stronghold in Chile.
Today its cannons are rarely visited and are silent sentinels to a rich
past as fishing boats ply the waters below. In the afternoon, we
will
make our way back to the beach of Lechagua. For those wishing a day trip
only, we'll return to Ancud. For those wishing the full experience of
the area, we will have free time in
the early evening to enjoy a tranquil walk on the beach and/or help an
English speaking family with some afternoon farm chores (cows, chickens,
greenhouse). Lodging will be arranged in The Tower, a one-of-a-kind
facility built specially to receive our guests.
In the evening,
enjoy a
gourmet dinner and a nice bottle of wine in
peace! (bilingual guide, picnic, kayaking, gourmet dinner and lodging
with breakfast included.)
